February on Granville Island- Party Central?

Rumour has it there's some big event in Vancouver during February.  We'd probably be sued were we to mention it by name however.  Rumour also has it that it will be impossible to get to Granville Island during said event.  I need to let you know that will NOT be the case.  The Island will be open - indeed hopping.  Please come down and party with us - it should be a lot of fun down here - what with the Swiss House, Atlantic Canada House (think Chocolate, think Beer, think diddley diddley music) La Place de la Francophonie (I hope that's right) and the Annual, but engorged for 2010, Winterruption Festival.

There will be parties, music, celebrations agogo - particularly amongst the artists and you are all welcome to join us.  So far the plan is for a party at ie Creative (on the corner of Railspur Alley) on Saturday 13th, late openings at many of Railspur Studios on Wednesday 17th and 24th February - and indeed many of us will be open late every night if the excitement warrants it.

In terms of things for sale - I'll have them!  There are calendars left - at a discounted price for those who missed it at Christmas and I'll have a few new prints relating particularly to this February's celebrations. Come and check things out - no diddley diddley music here, I promise.

Oh - also - a couple of other things:

Granville Island Works Launch Party - February 5th at Performance Works - 5pm til late.  Another party - to celebrate the launch of the wonderful newspaper "Granville Island Works" put together as a legacy piece by ZenHouse Media and the GIBCA and chronicling the unique people and businesses of Granville Island.

Granville Island - By Karen Johnson

Check out this great book which also chronicles the "characters" who have made Granville Island the amazing place it is over the past 30 years.  This is a book filled with the love and passion of the people who are the foundation of this place.

I have the book for sale in my studio - $35.00 - a must for all Islandophiles.

Books From Creative Guy Publishing

I now have a little bookshelf in the studio which is stocked with an eclectic selection of titles from CGP - a small but worthy Vancouver-based publishing house. Though you may not easily find these gems on the shelves of your big box booksellers, this does not reflect their merit.  Come by and pick up some off-the-wall and highly entertaining reads!  More details on this soon - info on the books themselves can be found at the website.

Peripheral Visions, by Paul KaneChimeric Machines, by Lucy A SnyderStays Crunchy in Milk, by Adam P Knave

and the final teaser........

I am working on a book.  If I say it here I know none of you will let it rest and therefore I won't have the chance to quietly drop the subject.  It should be done by the end of the year...OK?

Thanks for your continued interest in and support of my work - hope you all have a wonderful 2010!
